WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University volleyball team (2-0) will travel to Williamsburg, Va. this weekend for three matches against Campbell (2-2), Manhattan (1-2), and host William & Mary (1-3) in the Tribe Invitational.

In their first real road trip, the Hoyas face Campbell Friday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. On Saturday they will play Manhattan at 12:30 p.m. and William & Mary at 7 p.m.

GU looks to continue its strong start after a dominant 2-0 performance at last weekend's DC Challenge. They defeated both American and George Mason in 3-0 sweeps to open the season.

Sophomore outside hitter Alex Johnson was named MVP of the DC Challenge. She led the team with 25 kills in two matches, while hitting .278 and contributing 17 digs. Brooke Bachesta, Haley Lowrance, and Lindsay Wise also made the all-tournament team.

Campbell fell to UNC Wilmington in their last match. However, junior middle blocker Lindsey Coats was selected Monday as Big South Conference Defensive Player of the Week tallying 21 kills, 17 blocks, and hitting .340 in three matches.

Manhattan lost their first two matches but earned a 3-1 win in their most recent contest against LaSalle. Alexa Lampasona, Mariana Furquim, and Ellie Wiekamp led the team with 14 kills each.

William & Mary is coming off a loss at Liberty. Paulette Grand Pre led four players registering double-digit kills with 13.

Following this weekend, the Hoyas play seven additional road matches before the home opener September 18 against Liberty.
