Hoyas Host Binghamton, East Carolina and Furman in Georgetown Classic

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown volleyball team (7-5) will host Binghamton (4-6), East Carolina (0-9) and Furman (3-6) this weekend in the Georgetown Classic. Georgetown will play Binghamton on Friday, Sept. 17 at 5 p.m. On Saturday, Sept. 18, the Hoyas take on East Carolina at 1 p.m. and Furman at 7 p.m.
The Hoyas are riding a five-game win streak. During the streak, the Hoyas are hitting .247 and averaging 13.5 kills per set.
In the team's last match against VCU, the Hoyas won 3-2. Lindsay Wise (Raleigh, N.C./Raleigh Charter) recorded a career-high 19 kills, hitting .419 with six total blocks. Ashley Malone (San Jose, Calif./St. Francis) also recorded a career-high 58 assists in the win.
This season, freshman Elizabeth Riggins (Mission Viejo, Calif./Santa Margarita), taking advantage of opportunities to compete, has played in all 12 matches. Riggins leads the hitters with a .292 hitting percentage. Wise and Riggins lead the team with 113 kills each.
Friday's match is also this year's Jam the Gym event. The Georgetown Athletics Department is encouraging all students, faculty and staff to support their Hoyas. The match begins at 5 p.m.
