Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown University volleyball team will host two special promotions this weekend in conjunction with its BIG EAST matches against Connecticut on Friday, October 28 at 8 p.m. and St. John's on Sunday, October 30 at 3 p.m.
On Friday, October 28, come out to McDonough Gym and help the Hoyas "Pack the Mac" for their BIG EAST match vs. Connecticut. The Hoyas are looking to break the McDonough Arena attendance record for volleyball. The current record of 1,223 was set when GU hosted Long Beach State in 1998. Throughout Friday's match there will be contests and prizes for fans.
The Hoyas are encouraging all Georgetown and volleyball fans to come out to McDonough for this game to help them attain their goal.
On Sunday, October 30, the volleyball program will cap their weekend by hosting a Halloween costume party during its BIG EAST match vs. St. John's. The Hoyas are inviting everyone to dress up in their best Halloween costumes. Prizes will be awarded for "best kids costume," "best adult costume," "best Georgetown themed costume," and "best overall costume." The best costume winner will receive a gift certificate to Clyde's. The costume contest will be held between the second and third game of the match.
If you are unable to make it out to McDonough Arena this weekend for all the volleyball action, you can catch it live on www.guhoyas.com. Georgetown's matches vs. Connecticut and St. John's will be broadcast live and available to Hoya fans through CSTV's CS Pass.
The Hoyas head into this important BIG EAST weekend after snapping a six-match slide with a 3-0 win at DePaul on Saturday before the Hoyas fell, 3-0 at No. 9 Notre Dame on Sunday. Freshman Katherine Niesen drilled nine kills and posted match-highs with a .471 hitting percentage and eight total blocks in the win at Marquette while freshman Caitlin Boland was one dig shy of a double-double with a match-high 33 assists and nine digs.
