Lauren Saar Named To BIG EAST Honor Roll

Saar Registered Her 15th Double-Double Of 2013 With A Season-High 21 Kills And 14 Digs on Saturday.

WASHINGTON – Sophomore outside hitter Lauren Saar (Richland, Mich./Plainwell) of the Georgetown women’s volleyball team has been named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll, as it was announced by the conference on Monday. The honor recognizes Saar’s efforts in the Hoyas hard-fought 3-2 victory over Villanova on Saturday.

Saar was dominant in Georgetown’s lone match over the weekend, registering her 15th double-double of 2013 with a season-high 21 kills and 14 digs. The Richland, Mich. native took 55 swings in the match, finishing with .255 hitting percentage. She was dominant in the deciding fifth set, slamming down five kills to zero errors and adding four digs. Saar also contributed a block and two assists, finishing with a 2.2 passer rating.

It is the first career BIG EAST honor for Saar and third of the season for Georgetown. Junior Dani White (Mission Viejo, Calif./Mission Viejo) was named to the Honor Roll back on Sept. 2 and Oct. 14.

The Hoyas will stay at home to play three matches at McDonough Arena next weekend, starting with Xavier at 4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8. Contests with Creighton on Saturday at 7 p.m. and Butler on Sunday at 4 p.m. close out Georgetown’s home schedule for 2013. The Blue and Gray will celebrate its three seniors with a Senior Day ceremony on before the Creighton match.
