Volleyball Falls at Rutgers


NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ ? The Rutgers women?s volleyball team swept Georgetown today, improving its record to 17-10 overall and 6-6 in conference play. With the loss, Georgetown falls to 16-13 overall and 6-6 in the BIG EAST.

Each of the three games were very tight, with Rutgers edging the Hoyas 30-27 in the first two games. The third and final game went back and forth until an error by the Hoyas gave the Scarlet Knights a 30-26 win. In the deciding game, Rutgers took a 19-13 lead, but Georgetown came back and cut the lead to 23-21.

Rutgers was led by junior outside hitter Shayla Bush, who recorded 22 kills at a .417 hitting percentage and 22 digs to record her 18th double-double of the season.

Georgetown was led by Lauren Warner (Santa Ana, Calif./Mater Dei), who posted 18 kills and 22 digs.

Georgetown ends its season on Sunday, November 17 in Orange, N.J. against Seton Hall at 2 p.m.
