Michael Banks is in his first year as an assistant coach for Georgetown University's track & field and cross country program. After competing as both an undergraduate and graduate student at Georgetown, Banks' primary responsibility is handling the recruiting efforts of the program.
During his time at Georgetown, Banks posted the 11th-fastest steeplechase in GU history with a time of 8:57.85. Banks placed 11th at the 2008 BIG EAST Cross Country Championships and third in the steeplechase at the 2008 BIG EAST Outdoor Championships. He earned All-America honors at the 2008 NCAA Indoor Championships in the DMR and Academic All-America honors in cross country at the 2008 NCAA Cross Country Championships. Banks was also the BIG EAST Champion in the 4x800m at the 2005 Outdoor Championships. During his career at Georgetown, Banks posted some of the fastest times in GU history in the 1,000m, 1,500m, mile, 3k and 3k steeplechase and had a personal-best mile of 4:03.48.
Banks graduated in 2008 from the Robert Emmett McDonough School of Business with a degree in Finance. Banks went on to earn his Masters in Sport Industry Management from Georgetown University in 2009. During this time, Banks interned for Hoyas Unlimited and the compliance office in the Georgetown Athletics Department.
