WASHINGTON - The Georgetown track & field team traveled to Princeton, N.J., for the Larry Ellis Invitational, a two-day track meet hosted by Princeton University on Friday and Saturday. The Hoyas put up strong times on the first night of the meet.

Just as the outdoor season started, the men's track team continues to show its depth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Darren Fahy (Carlsbad, Calif./La Costa Canyon) was the first of a trio of Hoyas to cross the finish line as he finished second with a time of 8:43.12 followed by Matt Howard (Blacksburg, Va./Blacksburg) in fourth (8:47.02) and All-American Dylan Sorensen (Zionsville, Ind./Zionsville) in fifth (8:47.07).

A trio of Hoyas finished in the top five in the women's 1,500-meter run led by All-American Hannah Neczypor (Royalton, Ohio/North Royalton) in third place (4:24.29) followed by Annamarie Maag (Lake Oswego, Ore./Jesuit Prep) in fourth (4:24.45) and Kirsten Kasper (Andover, Mass./North Andover) in fifth (4:25.81).

Shanique Dasilva (Bronx, N.Y./Bishop Ford) finished 10th in the women's 800-meter run with a time of 2:10.09. Her time was the fourth-best mark in the second heat.

Bobbie Burgess (West Lafayette, Ind./West Lafayette) won her heat in the women's 5,000-meter run, a two-section final. Burgess won the second heat with a time of 17:01.34.

The men's 1,500-meter run featured the likes of Michael Lederhouse (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard West) and Bobby Peavey (Virginia Beach, Va./Kellam) competing in the second heat, taking fourth (3:46.94) and fifth (3:47.17) in their section, respectively, and 13th and 14th overall.

The Hoyas continue tomorrow at the Larry Ellis Invitational in Princeton, N.J.
