WASHINGTON - Less than one week after the Hoyas competed at the BIG EAST Cross Country Championship, Georgetown traveled to Charlottesville, Va., today for the Cavalier Open. This marks the third time the men's team has traveled to Charlottesville this season.
On the men's side, it was a flurry of Hoyas as nine student-athletes crossed the finish in the top 15 with two of them competing unattached as redshirts.
Bobby Peavey (Virginia Beach, Va./Kellam) finished second overall in the 8,000-meter race with a time of 24:51.26 while redshirt freshmen Collin Leibold (Falls Church, Va./Gonzaga) and Silas Frantz (Henrico, Va./Douglas Freeman) finished fourth (24:58.88) and seventh (25:25.64), respectively, competing unattached.
A quintet of Hoyas rushed through the finish as Georgetown recorded finishers nine through 13 in Max Darrah (25:31.38), Derek Armstrong (25:43.61), Brian Manning (25:45.49), Michael Reher (25:46.27) and Miles Schoedler (25:50.30). Austin Gregor (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks South) was the final GU finisher with a 15th-place time of 25:54.92.
On the women's side, senior Lauren Borduin (Columbia, Mo./Rock Bridge) was the first of a trio of Hoyas to cross the finish line with a time of 17:58.59, good enough for second place in the 5,000-meter race. She was followed by Jenna Davidner (South Easton, Mass./Oliver Ames) in third place (18:04.71) and Joanna Stevens (Blacksburg, Va./Blacksburg) in fourth place (18:06.15).
The Hoyas continue competition on Saturday, November 12 as they travel to Princess Anne, Md., for the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships.
