WASHINGTON - The Georgetown track & field program will send 17 student-athletes to compete in 11 events at the 2013 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships - East Preliminary. The event will be held at Irwin Belk Track on the campus of the University of North Carolina - A&T in Greensboro, N.C.

Four of the 17 student-athletes will be double entered in two events with three members of the women's 4x400-meter relay squad competing in an individual event as well. Andrew Springer will double up in individual events with a showing in both the men's 5,000-meter run as well as the 10,000-meter run.

Springer will run in the 10,000-meter run on Thursday, May 23 with a start time of 9:40 p.m. Springer joins Brian King as the two Hoyas entered in the 48-person event. Springer's season best 29:28.64 was the 17th-fastest of the declared entrants. Brian King declared for the race with a time of 29:49.56.

Following two days of rest, Springer will compete in the men's 5,000-meter run on Saturday, May 25. Springer's best time this season is 13:46.05, the fourth-fastest of declared entrants behind an athlete from Northeastern and one apiece from UNC Greensboro and North Carolina. The field features 48 student-athletes.

Springer will be the lone Hoya in the men's 5,000-meter run. He is no stranger to a double entry as he won both of these events at the 2013 BIG EAST Outdoor Track & Field Championships with one less day between races.

All-American Chelsea Cox will be double entered in both the women's 800-meter run as well as part of the women's 4x400-meter relay. Cox owns the sixth-best of the 48-person field in the women's 800m with a time of 2:04.41 and was also a BIG EAST champion in the event earlier this season. Andrea Keklak will join Cox in the race with the first round slated for 8:10 p.m., on Thursday, May 23. Keklak's time of 2:06.73 is the 25th-best of the field. Keklak will also compete as part of the women's 4x400-meter relay.

Katrina Coogan is in the midst of a breakout season for Georgetown and will look to continue it as she competes in the first round of the women's 1,500-meter run. Coogan ran the fifth-best time of the field of 48 with a time of 4:13.63. The first round is set for 5:30 p.m., on Thursday, May 23.

Running for GU in the men's 800-meter run is Billy Ledder. Ledder ran 1:48.14 this season, the seventh-best among the 48 declared athletes. The first round of the men's 800m is set for 8:35 p.m., on Thursday, May 23.

Deseree King will be the first Hoya to step on the track as she will compete in the women's 400-meter hurdles first round, the first event of the three-day meet. King's time of 58.19 is the ninth-best among declared athletes and she is the reigning BIG EAST champion in the event. King is another student-athlete pulling double duty as she joins Cox, Keklak and Mirable Nkenke in the women's 4x400-meter relay, slated for 9:25 p.m., on Saturday, May 25.

The Blue & Gray have a trio of athletes competing in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase with Dylan Sorensen leading the way. His time of 8:52.29 is 11th-best of declared athletes with Ryan Gil not too far behind with a time of 8:53.59. Max Darrah will also compete in the event that is slated for 9:30 p.m., on Friday, May 24. Darrah enters the race with the 30th-best time (8:58.25) among the field of 48.

The women's 5,000-meter run will feature another trio of Hoyas with Samantha Nadel, Kirsten Kasper and All-American Madeline Chambers all competing in the event. Nadel enters the race with the 19th-best time in the field of declared athletes (16:14.97) followed by Kasper's time of 16:23.55 (26th) and Chambers' 16:25.43 mark (29th.)
