Four from Women's Track & Field Named All-Academic by USTFCCCA

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown women's track & field team had four student-athletes named All-Academic by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) today. The four athletes make the list of 676 total representing 171 different NCAA Division I institutions.

USTFCCCA names a student-athlete all-academic if they currently carry a 3.25 cumulative grade point average (GPA) through the most recent semester with the athlete also having competed at the NCAA Outdoor Championships (preliminary or final site) and / or finished the regular season (indoor) in the national top 96 as an individual athlete or in the national top 48 as part of a relay.

The quartet to be named all-academic include recent graduate Lauren Borduin (Columbia, Mo./Rock Bridge), Katrina Coogan (Exeter, N.H./Phillips Exeter Academy), All-American Emily Jones (Harvard, Mass./Bromfield) and Joanna Stevens (Blacksburg, Va./Blacksburg).

The foursome ended their seasons at the NCAA Championships preliminary site in Jacksonville, Fla. Borduin and Coogan both made the quarterfinals of the 1,500-meter run with times of 4:29.55 and 4:23.76, respectively. Jones and Stevens both competed in the 5,000-meter run, finishing 13th (16:47.58) and 20th (17:04.94) in heat one of two, respectively.
