WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's cross country team enters the 2013 season ranked No. 6 in the nation, while the Hoyas men's team is ranked No. 25 in the preseason coaches' poll released by the U.S. Track & Field and Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

The national poll ranked the Georgetown women sixth in the country with 283 points, with Providence first, followed by Florida State, Oregon, Duke and Washington.

The Hoyas return several key members from last year's team, which finished 12th in the 2012 NCAA Championships, led by junior Katrina Coogan (Exeter, N.H./Philips Exeter Academy), graduate student Rachel Schneider (Dover, N.H./St. Thomas Aquinas), senior Madeleine Chambers (Rocky River, Ohio/Magnificat), junior Annamarie Maag (Lake Oswego, Ore./Jesuit) and sophomore Samantha Nadel (Glen Head, N.Y./North Shore).

On the men's side, the Hoyas were ranked 25th, receiving 110 points and were the top-ranked team in the BIG EAST Conference. Georgetown returns graduate student Andrew Springer (Westerly, R.I./Westerly), who was the team's top finisher at the NCAA Championships last year, as well as junior Miles Schoedler (Ocean View, N.J./Ocean View), sophomore Darren Fahy (Carsbad, Calif./La Costa Canyon) and junior John Murray (Shrewsbury, Mass./Shrewsbury).

The Georgetown women's team opens the 2013 season on Saturday, Sept. 14, competing in the Dartmouth Invitational, while the men's team opens the season at the Navy Invite in Annapolis, Md. on the same date.
