WASHINGTON - Georgetown defeated DePaul on the road 6-3 on Saturday, March 9 in the first conference game of the season. The Hoyas are now 10-11 on the season and 1-0 in BIG EAST play while DePaul falls to 4-16 and 0-1 in league action.
How it Happened

The Hoyas opened scoring after Dayanara Campos' double to left center brought Brooke Rebhan home, giving GU a 1-0 lead in the first inning.

Kayla Dunn kept the Blue Demons off the board in the bottom of the first, throwing back-to-back strikeouts with runners on first and third.

Each team put a runner on base in the second inning, but neither was able to score any runs.

Georgetown did not allow any Blue Demon runners on base in the third or fourth inning. The impressive Hoya defensive performance was capped off with a spectacular diving catch by Claire Turner in the outfield.

In the top of the fifth, Hollie Pardini hit her first career home run. Emily Strittmatter then hit a double to left center, bringing Rebhan home from first and putting the Hoyas up 3-0.

DePaul recorded three runs in the bottom of the third to tie the game.

Neither team scored any runs in the sixth or seventh innings, sending the game to extras.

The Hoyas exploded in the eighth inning, taking a 6-3 lead. GU recorded four hits, three of which were doubles. Strittmatter, Campos and Gabby Park all tallied runs in the inning.

Two strikeouts from Julia Parker allowed Georgetown to hold DePaul scoreless in the bottom of the eighth, giving the first game of the series to the Hoyas.
